{"id":69,"date":"2013-03-26T16:46:15","date_gmt":"2013-03-26T16:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nofl.biz\/blog\/?p=69"},"modified":"2013-03-26T16:46:15","modified_gmt":"2013-03-26T16:46:15","slug":"piboard-an-expansion-board-for-raspberry-pi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/beneford.com\/Blog\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/piboard-an-expansion-board-for-raspberry-pi\/","title":{"rendered":"PiBoard &#8211; an expansion board for Raspberry Pi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PiBoard was designed to be a compact expansion for the Raspberry Pi with buttons, and LCD screen and space for time and temperature components and connectors for further expansion: <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-72\" href=\"http:\/\/nofl.biz\/blog\/?attachment_id=72\">PiBoard v1.0 Board<\/a>, <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-71\" href=\"http:\/\/nofl.biz\/blog\/?attachment_id=71\">PiBoard v1.0 Schematic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Components<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Full 26 pin connector<\/li>\n<li>LCD<\/li>\n<li>DisplayTech S162GOD with contrast potentiometer<\/li>\n<li>Electronic Assembly EA-DOG-M with or without LED backlight in\u00a05V or 3.3V mode<\/li>\n<li>4 Buttons (TYCO)<\/li>\n<li>Reset button (not Raspberry Pi V1)<\/li>\n<li>I2C clock chip eg DS1307, DS1337 or PCF8563<\/li>\n<li>I2C temperature sensor eg DS1621<\/li>\n<li>1-Wire (eg for temperature sensor DS18B20)<\/li>\n<li>External connector for Gnd, 5V, GPIOs 14, 15<\/li>\n<li>Header and External connector for GPIOs 28,29,30,31<\/li>\n<li>Zener diode protection for inputs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>V1.0 has a number of faults, but does work:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Either (a) the Raspberry Pi RCA video connector needs to be trimmed; or (b) [if not using the EA-DOG-M LCD, the PiBoard need sto be trimmed.<\/li>\n<li>The capacitors across the buttons are best omitted<\/li>\n<li>The location of the 1-Wire (Gnd, 3.3V, GPIO4) connector is in the way of a PiBoard capacitor.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0buttons are too close to the EA-DOG-M (placement is tricky, but not impossible)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>V1.0a is being designed to correct these and other shortcomings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PiBoard was designed to be a compact expansion for the Raspberry Pi with buttons, and LCD screen and space for time and temperature components and connectors for further expansion: PiBoard v1.0 Board, PiBoard v1.0 Schematic.
